All Means All
Luke 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be
of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple. (KJV)
You know, folks I didn’t make the rules
concerning salvation, I am just here to report and to share what the Lord
expects of His people in order to make it to their eternal destination. I
have found out personally for myself, that when the Lord says all, He does
mean all. But before you go thinking, “well all this God stuff is a bunch
of do’s and don’ts”, keep in mind that God is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek Him. The difference you will find is that our reward is
something now located in the inward realm and not relying on the outward
one any longer.
Luke 14:26-27 If any man come to me, and
hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and
sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (27) And
whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my
disciple. (KJV)
Some of these people you were close to
before your conversion in Christ, well, they just may not be of benefit to
your new life in Christ. Now keep in mind the word ‘hate’ does not refer to
ill will or despising, but rather it means loving less, not letting that
relationship come before the Lord. Keep in mind this fact also, that many
of these people you were involved with before your conversion were
likeminded with you, as long as you were of this world. However, for you to
move forward in your walk with the Lord they may be someone you will need
to die to and nail to your own Spiritual cross in order to resurrect and
walk in the newness of life.
Matthew 10:34-37 Think not that I am come
to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (35) For I
am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter
against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (36)
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. (37) He that loveth
father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son
or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (KJV)
Yeah I know, some of these people hit
close to home, some you were near and dear to before your conversion in
Christ. The Lord expects your undivided love and attention, and does not
want anyone or anything to come before Him. Like verse 34 says, if it’s not
peaceable, then you will need to move on in order to experience the peace
of God. That sword of the Spirit that is mentioned in verse 34 refers to
the word of God, which is separating between what is soul and what is spirit;
in other words what is and is not beneficial to your walk.
Matthew 10:38-40 And he that taketh not
his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (39) He that
findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake
shall find it. (40) He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that
receiveth me receiveth him that sent me. (KJV)
Not all of these people that you have
dealt with in the past are going to be as receptive as you were concerning
a walk with the Lord, so now it is up to you to hear the Lord’s take on who
He would have you associate with, your carnal family or your Spiritual
family in Christ. Do you desire to find new life in Christ, then you will
have to let loose of the old one to do so. When our Lord says to forsake
all, all does mean all in order to receive your reward in Heaven.
