Take Heed To The Light
Luke 21:7-8 And they asked him, saying,
Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when
these things shall come to pass? (8) And he said, Take heed that ye be not
deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time
draweth near: go ye not therefore after them. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘heed’:
991
blepo (blep'-o); a primary verb; to look at (literally or
figuratively): KJV-- behold, beware, lie, look (on, to), perceive, regard,
see, sight, take heed. Compare 3700.
Once we have been enlightened to the
things of God we are told to take heed and be alert, because as we see
clearly illustrated above, many didn’t. Once again we see the word ‘many’
used, and now we know what happened to the many that were called; yeah they
ended up misled, thus why only a few are truly chosen.
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure
word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light
that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in
your hearts: (KJV)
The more you take heed to the light of
the gospel of Christ, the more it illuminates and gives you a clear
understanding of the things of His realm. Like with the sun coming up in the
morning, what was once darkened and obscured now becomes clear. Are you
letting the Son arise in your heart today, or is it cloudy and overcast?
Hebrews 3:12-14 Take heed, brethren, lest
there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the
living God. (13) But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day;
lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin. (14) For we
are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence
stedfast unto the end; (KJV)
You know that light that our Lord shined
for you in the beginning of your walk, yeah that is the same one you need
to give heed to and follow if you truly desire to make it to your
destination. Along the way on the path of life, the Lord would like to use
you also to help shine a light for others to see as well, so that they won’t
end up misled and deceived by sin.
1 Timothy 4:15-16 Meditate upon these
things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
(16) Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for
in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. (KJV)
You know, the Lord not only expects us
not to be misled, but we in turn need to take heed and make sure that we do
not mislead others as well. By meditating and giving a whole hearted effort
to following the path our Lord has illuminated for you to walk on today, it
not only profits you but all that you come in contact with.
Acts 20:26-28 Wherefore I take you to
record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men. (27) For I have
not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. (28) Take heed
therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy
Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath
purchased with his own blood. (KJV)
You know, it cost the Lord His own life
to purchase us back from the pits of hell and give us access again to His
kingdom. It would do you well to take heed so that you can make the same
statement Paul did in the above verses. Paul declared, made known, all the
counsel of God so that He would be and stay pure and clean before God. Are
you taking heed to His counsel so that you can shed His light for others to
see?
