The Rest Of The Message
Hebrews 4:9-11 There remaineth therefore
a rest to the people of God. (10) For he that is entered into his rest, he
also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. (11) Let us
labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. (KJV)
Interesting isn’t it, that our labor
involves one of resting? When the Word of God says that we should work out
our own salvation, another way of looking at that is that we need to work
our self out of the way so that someone else can take over. Actually, when
you really put things in perspective, we have access to a God who already
knows the future, who can call things ahead of time, every time, before it
takes places, with total accuracy as well. So with a deal like that, what
could possibly go wrong?
Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your
requests be made known unto God. (7) And the peace of God, which passeth
all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (KJV)
Careful means anxious; you know, like
trying to chase a blessing, or even manufacture something our Lord didn’t
intend for your life? That peace of God you experienced in the beginning of
your walk was confirmation that you are on the path that the Lord ordained
for you before the foundation of the world. Simply put, it now means you
and God are on good terms, something you will want to continue in if you
truly desire to make it to your eternal destination. The only thing that
could go possibly wrong is on our end, hearing what we want to hear and not
what the Lord intended for us to hear or walk in.
Colossians 3:14-15 And above all these
things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. (15) And let the
peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one
body; and be ye thankful. (KJV)
Charity means love; which is the bond or
joint that ties us together with God using the word ‘perfectness’ which
means maturity. The more you learn to let the peace of God rule in your
walk, well quite simply, the more peace you will experience; which is a lot
easier than being agitated and anxious, worried and fretting over things that
you really can’t change anyway. So who or what are you really pursuing
today, and is it bringing peace or are you getting worked up and bent out
of shape, you know, out of the shape that our Spiritual potter had for His
clay?
Matthew 6:31-34 Therefore take no
thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (32) (For after all these things do the
Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all
these things. (33) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (34) Take
therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for
the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (KJV)
Ohh, wait, wait, wait, slow down;
remember we are supposed to be different from the world, so why are you
chasing and fretting over the same things that worldly people are?
1 Peter 3:10-11 For he that will love
life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips
that they speak no guile: (11) Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him
seek peace, and ensue it. (KJV)
Seek first this peace; which is a
confirmation that we are a partaker of the kingdom of God. Let this peace
rule in your heart so that you won’t be misled or end up chasing an
imagination down a dead end path. Take the time to hear the rest of the
message of God.
