The Root Cause
Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any
man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; (KJV)
If you notice, it is up to us to keep a
watch on our own lives so that we can avoid the root cause of trouble that
can spring up, sometimes without even being aware of it. Just like with
trees and other plants, they start out small but if left unchecked they can
grow into something that you did not intend to be a part of your Spiritual
garden.
Deuteronomy 29:16-18 (For ye know how we
have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which
ye passed by; (17) And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols,
wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:) (18) Lest there
should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth
away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these
nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and
wormwood; (KJV)
Egypt was a land filled with great riches
and wealth, and because of that many had sold out and were worshipping their
own creations more than the Creator. Sound familiar? Like this country we
live in called America, where many have fallen for the American dream
rather than Spiritual enlightenment. We are surrounded today by fallen
people, even in the so called church realm the gospel has become
Americanized, and for those that don’t know the truth they will fall for
the lie, and become rooted and entangled with the affairs of this life.
1 Timothy 6:9-10 But they that will be
rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful
lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love of
money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have
erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (KJV)
The Bible clearly spells out the root
cause of ‘all’ not just some evil that has from the beginning taken man
down, and has drowned out their love for the Lord and replaced it with an
imagination. When someone starts to go under water the first thing that
they do is look above to the light, knowing that their source of life is
above and not below. So if someone gets taken down, and doesn’t start
moving back upward, eventually they will end up drowning and never get back
above where there is life.
Matthew 13:24-26 Another parable put he
forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which
sowed good seed in his field: (25) But while men slept, his enemy came and
sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. (26) But when the blade was
sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. (KJV)
Do you know what a tare is? Well, it is a
false wheat, something that looks like wheat but has a bitter taste, and is
not useable. By staying awake and alert you can keep the enemy out of your
field so that he doesn’t go on a tare, and corrupt the good that you have
allowed to be sown in your heart.
Mark 4:19 And the cares of this world,
and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in,
choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful. (KJV)
There truly is nothing new under the sun;
the same root cause of all evil is what took mankind down in the beginning,
and continues today. However, you can cut off that source for yourself and
not let it take root by keeping the eyes of your understanding open and not
allowing the enemy to enter in again.
