You Light Up My Life

John 1:1-4 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3) All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (4) In him was life; and the life was the light of men. (KJV)

Many people go through life sleep walking, unconscious to the things of God, hastily pursuing the things of the world. Many Christians do the same thing; they become enlightened to the things of God for a season but then get lulled back to sleep, thinking something in this lower realm could ever bring peace or contentment. When God speaks, His word is Spirit and it is life, which enlightens mankind to His realm so that they can do those things that are pleasing in His sight.

John 1:5-7 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. (6) There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. (7) The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. (KJV)

John the Baptist was basically the last of the Old Testament prophets who spoke of the Messiah that would come and provide a Spiritual light or enlightenment to the people of God which would not manifest in the outward, but would be found in the realm of the Spirit. There is light shining today, can you see this light and are you letting it shine in your heart, or have you put on blinders and are ignoring it?

2 Corinthians 4:4-6 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (5) For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. (6) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Jesus Christ came to fulfill the old law without sinning, and then give His life a ransom so that we would no longer have to be in darkness and separated from the love of God. As we see it takes a spiritual light in order for someone to see into the realm of the Spirit, and that knowledge of God is in Christ. Jesus Christ is like an usher in a theatre, who has a flashlight to lead you to a seat in the heavenly realm, so that you can see what is taking place in His house.

Psalms 119:104-106 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. (105) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. (106) I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. (KJV)

We all have at one time or another been misled in a darkened world, trying to find peace and contentment, sometimes even after we knew the Lord. Each and every day our first priority should be to seek the Lord, so that He can usher us to the place that He would have us walk this day. If you notice the Lord shines His light in front of us and not behind us, because if you try to look back you will end up deceived. Also this light is shined on our next step, not looking too far ahead like into tomorrow, but where we need to be walking today, right now.

Psalms 37:23-24 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. (24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand. (KJV)

Do you know where you are headed today and what steps you need to take to get there? Better yet, are you following the true Light that should be lighting up your life?
