A Heavenly Persuasion
Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from
the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or
famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (36) As it is written, For thy
sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the
slaughter. (37) Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors
through him that loved us. (38) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, (39) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall
be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our
Lord. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for
‘persuaded’:
3982
peitho (pi'-tho); to rely (by inward certainty):
KJV-- agree, assure, believe, have
confidence, be (wax) conflent, make friend, obey, persuade, trust, yield.
Have you ever read about the things that
Paul went through to deliver God’s message? Yet, despite all the opposition
he was still able to get the message out. It would have taken a strong
persuasion to continue wouldn’t it? Despite all the opposition, not only
did he get the message of God delivered but he considers all those in
Christ more than conquerors. Do you see your life and walk with the Lord as
being a conqueror, or are you still on the fence so to speak, hoping this
God stuff is real?
Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that ye are so soon
removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another
gospel: (7) Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and
would pervert the gospel of Christ. (KJV)
It amazed Paul at how quickly many jumped
ship, like with the home crowds that start booing the home team when they
appear to fall behind. With all the opposition Paul encountered and yet
endured, only to watch others give up so easily and call it quits, looking
for an easy way out. The Gospel of Christ is one of denial; one where we
deny ourselves, one where we lay down our lives for others. All these other
false doctrines deny the Lord, and basically pamper man’s lower nature,
either accusing or excusing one another. You wouldn’t let some pervert into
your house and neither will our Lord, so whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
Galatians 5:7-9 Ye did run well; who did
hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? (8) This persuasion cometh
not of him that calleth you. (9) A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump.
(KJV)
It’s up to you to rightly divide the word
of truth; exercising your Spiritual senses so that you won’t fall for some
cheap persuasion from below. Again Paul asks who did hinder you; and just
like we began with, who shall separate us from the love of God in Christ.
Most people take a physical face and attach it to a spiritual issue, then
play the blame game. However, with all that is available in Christ, with
the victory He has given to us, there is no excuse to be wrestling with
flesh and blood.
Galatians 3:1-4 O foolish Galatians, who
hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (2) This
only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or
by the hearing of faith? (3) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit,
are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (4) Have ye suffered so many things
in vain? if it be yet in vain. (KJV)
You know, Paul had to wonder with all the
things that he went through and suffered to get the message to the people
of God, how could they be so easily swayed? Which category would you
consider yourself in today; one where you are persuaded and are sure that
nothing or no one is going to separate you from the love of God in Christ,
or are you being easily swayed looking elsewhere?
Revelation 3:21-22 To him that overcometh
will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am
set down with my Father in his throne. (22) He that hath an ear, let him
hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (KJV)
Do you desire that persuasion as well,
that nothing or no one is going to separate and sever your relationship
with our Lord? Then why not seek and get your counsel personally from
someone who has already made it home, triumphantly and victoriously,
because He too was of a heavenly persuasion.
