Overcoming The World

1 John 5:4-6 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (5) Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (6) This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. (KJV)

Do you know what it is like to be a winner? How about these athletes who get traded from a losing team and are now on a contender’s team? Once they find out that they are on a winning team they no longer expect to go out and lose anymore, but rather become confident in victory. You have traded your old life for a new life in Christ, and you are now joined with a winning team, a body of believers who expect and should be confident in victory, not just some of the time but always in all things. That same Spirit that was leading and guiding Jesus of Nazareth to an eternal victory is the same Spirit that is within you also. Like with athletes that change teams, they get a new name on their jersey that now identifies them with a winning organization.

Hebrews 11:6-7 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. (KJV)

You know, when you watch contests between teams it’s the victors that get the reward not the losers. Without faith, believing the message from above, then there is no way that you will ever be victorious let alone confident or have any peace. Our Lord is seated at the right hand of God, right now, ready to show you the only path that leads to eternal life. With all that is available in Christ, why do you keep looking to a fallen dead world, thinking that it will bring you peace?

1 John 4:3-5 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (4) Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (5) They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. (KJV)

Faith is your ability to hear this message being delivered by Christ, then acting and following through with what He is asking of you personally.

Strong’s definition for ‘overcome’:

3528  nikao (nik-ah'-o); from 3529; to subdue (literally or figuratively):

KJV-- conquer, overcome, prevail, get the victory.

You get this victory and continue to prevail when you allow Christ and His word to have more of an influence on you than what you see in this world and those that are of it. Greater is He that is within you than all those wannabe, lying, double tongued false prophets that are out and about claiming they are of God.

2 Corinthians 2:14 Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. (KJV)

Keep in mind Church, that we win; we are the ones that are victorious. It’s not like the outcome is still hanging in the balance but the key is that it is only found in Christ. It’s not like the Lord still has more to do, but rather has done all He can so that we too can partake of this victory and no longer have to live a life in sin where we keep falling short. So let’s give credit where credit is due; and how about spending a bit more time thanking God for what He has provided instead of complaining about things that you think are lacking.

John 16:32-33 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me. (33) These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (KJV)

According to the outward, things didn’t look too rosy for the Lord either but in the end He held God true to His word and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. If you desire to be seated on the right side with God then the only way that can be accomplished is by following the leading and guiding of someone that has already made it.

Matthew 25:31-33 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: (32) And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: (33) And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. (KJV)

When the Lord returns to set things straight which side will you be on? Well, if you allow Him to be true and man the liar then you will be on the right; however, if you decide that man knows better, then you will be left out.
