What Do You Know?
Romans 14:11-13 For it is written, As I
live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall
confess to God. (12) So then every one of us shall give account of himself
to God. (13) Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge
this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his
brother's way. (KJV)
An eternal question will be asked of all some
day, a day when you will stand before God Himself and with your own words
you will either be convicted or acquitted, which in this case will be vital
being that it concerns your eternal destination. Basically, what the Lord
is going to ask you is quite simple, “what do you know?” The simple answer
will be the one that pertains to His kingdom, which is Spiritual, while
anything else just won’t measure up. Verse 13 alludes to the fact that we
should not be judging things according to the outward but rather looking
inwardly; and that would include ourselves, to make sure that what we say
and do is according to sound doctrine and not popular opinions of man.
1 Peter 4:5-6 Who shall give account to
him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead. (6) For for this cause
was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be
judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the
spirit. (KJV)
One of the definitions of the word ‘account’
is referring to doctrine, or teaching. The question then becomes who or
what doctrine did you follow, God’s or man? Now, if you desire to enter
into God’s eternal realm then you will need to know the doctrine or
teaching that He approves of and gives His stamp of approval on, while
anything else just won’t cut it.
Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith
unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that
doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in
that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name
have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And
then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity. (KJV)
You know, waiting until the day of
judgment is not the time to have question marks, but rather it is the time that
you are required to have the right answer. So in order to eliminate the
question marks, today would be that day to get rid of any doubts that would
cause you to wonder if you are truly on the path that our Lord ordained for
you to walk in before the foundation of the world. And remember again the
many that were called? Yeah, in the end, only a few that were really chosen
by God will be allowed access into His eternal kingdom. The reason those
few are given access to His eternal realm is because they allowed God to
have access into their lives, and walk according to the leading of His
Spirit. If you have question marks in your walk today (let me offer this
hint of where many are missing the mark, as we see in the three examples
given they all involve the Lord’s name) then finding out His name will
eliminate the questions and provide the answer.
1 John 4:16-18 And we have known and
believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in
love dwelleth in God, and God in him. (17) Herein is our love made perfect,
that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are
we in this world. (18) There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth
out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in
love. (KJV)
God is love; and His message of salvation
is based on love, not anger or threats. Those that are able to come to a
working knowledge of our Lord will respond to His message of love from the
heart, learning to seek what is pleasing in His sight, despite how many others
view Him. God is also a Spirit; so to cast out all fear and doubt,
eliminating question marks in our walk, the answer will only be found in
the realm of the Spirit, with a love for our Lord being your true motive
and intent of the heart.
Titus 1:14-16 Not giving heed to Jewish
fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth. (15) Unto the
pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is
nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. (16) They
profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable,
and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. (KJV)
The Word of God is pure; it leaves the
throne and is described as a pure river of living water flowing into His
people. But mankind gets a hold of things and tries to alter the flow with
their own additives, manmade doctrines that just won’t hold any water.
Again we see where many end up, and these works that they claim are of God
are considered reprobate, something He just doesn’t approve of. So before
you get all caught up in all the religious doctrines that many claim are of
God, take the time in His Word and in prayer so that you can know for
yourself and rightly divide what is of God and what is of man. “What do you
know”, well, hopefully for your own sake more than what the many do.
