A New and Living Name

John 14:12-14 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (13) And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (14) If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (KJV)

With all that the Lord had just demonstrated, all the wonderful works God did through this man, and now He says that we will do these and even greater works? In fact if it wasn’t enough that He did these things while He walked this earth, then He resurrects and continues His ministry after that. Talk about a tough act to follow. Well keep in mind the word ‘greater’ because greater is He that is now within you than he that is in the world. Some of these greater works that take place are often missed, even by God’s own people because they still spend more time looking for an outward manifestation rather than seeing the miracle of the new life that is taking place inside of them. In order for all this to work properly and effectively one needs to know that name that God responds to as well.

John 20:29-31 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (30) And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book: (31) But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name. (KJV)

We see our Lord still ministering, and this after His death or what appeared to be His demise, still bringing words of life to His people and manifesting Himself in a new way to them. Along with this new look so to speak, He was giving them the name that would get them access to this life also so that the greatest work of all could take place in them, that being re-born into the realm of the Spirit where He is now operating and expects His people to be operating as well.

Luke 24:44-47 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. (45) Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, (46) And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: (47) And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. (KJV)

This name of Christ was something He said they should be preaching, and this is why He was still around teaching them the importance of His name. There was more to this man Jesus of Nazareth than just what they saw in the outward, but rather another man or the second man, that being Christ, who was resurrected and is teaching them who He is.

Ephesians 2:13-15 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. (14) For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; (15) Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; (KJV)

Do you desire the peace of God in your life? Then you will need to know His Son and what name He goes by in order to find it, as well as continue in His peace. Some people think that the two that are being referred to is the Jews and the gentiles coming together as one. The truth be known though, it is Jesus and Christ, and of these two one new man is brought forth. You will find peace when you allow His Spirit, that being the Spirit of Christ, to bear witness with your spirit, and then you too can be likeminded and of one accord with our Lord. It is this same Jesus Christ that is now seated at the right hand of God who is making intercession for all those that come to God through His name.

Luke 24:24-27 And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not. (25) Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: (26) Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory? (27) And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. (KJV)

You know a lot of people today still go to dead places thinking that they will find the Lord; places they call a church are nothing more than big tombs. Many are running to and fro seeking truth, yet the simple truth comes from spending time in the Word of God, and finding out what the Word says concerning our Lord and not what everyone else thinks. While you are at it, when going through the scriptures take a close look at who the Lord called Himself, so that you will know what name to call on in time of need.

John 4:24-26 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (25) The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. (26) Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he. (KJV)

Jesus Christ, a new and living way, the only name that will get you access to the throne of God; not because I say so but your Bible is quite specific to point this out as well.

Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. (11) This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. (12) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)

Remember Peter, and what God revealed to Him in Matthew 16:13-18? Well, that same name, that rock solid foundation, was what God was having him teach and preach in as well. There is only one name that is given where you will find salvation, that peace of God that passes all understanding. It takes a complete name to get you complete as well, so don’t settle for anything less.
