Fired Up

1 Corinthians 3:13-15 Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. (14) If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. (15) If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. (KJV)

1 Corinthians 3:13

[And the fire shall try every man's work] It is the property of fire to test the qualities of objects. Thus, gold and silver, so far from being destroyed by fire, are purified from dross. Wood, hay, stubble, are consumed. The power of fire to try or test the nature of metals, or other objects, is often referred to in the Scripture. Compare <Isa. 4:4; 24:15; Mal. 3:2; 1 Pet. 1:7>. It is not to be supposed here that the material fire of the last Day shall have any tendency to purify the soul, or to remove that which is unsound; but that the investigations and trials of the Judgment shall remove all that is evil, as fire acts with reference to gold and silver. As they are not burned but purified; as they pass unhurt through the intense heat of the furnace, so shall all that is genuine pass through the trials of the last great Day, of which trials the burning world shall be the antecedent and the emblem. That great Day shall show what is genuine and what is not. (from Barnes' Notes)

We started this week talking about, faith without works is dead. We also know from the Word that without faith, not just the hearing part but the doing part also, then it is impossible to please God. If one knows the foundation of God then they realize that the foundation of God is Spiritual, and so are all those that build their trust and confidence in this realm. A Spiritual fire will try your work, to make sure that you and the Lord are likeminded, of one accord and one mind. To those that endure to the end they will not dread the day of judgment, but rather embrace it. Others however, will find that the fire that could have consumed their sin will be something that will consume them instead.

Malachi 3:2-3 But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: (3) And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness. (KJV)

Those of us who stay fired up for the Lord, and have a burning desire to serve Him in Spirit and in truth will allow this light into our lives. For those that do not build a foundation in the realm of the Spirit will not want this light shining in their lives and exposing them for who they truly are.

Matthew 5:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. (15) Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (16) Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (KJV)

The good works that we see spoken of is not of your own doing, but rather the works our Lord ordained for you to walk in before the foundation of this world. The Lord lit a fire in you, and now it is up to you to stay close to Him and keep this candle lit and burning, so that not only can you see the path of life but also to show others this way of escape from this present evil world that we now inhabit.

John 5:34-36 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. (35) He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. (36) But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. (KJV)

Our Lord described the life of John as a burning and shining light, something He expects of all His people. Our Lord also said that He had a greater witness than John because He was able to shine a light into the realm of the Spirit and show us how to walk this same path that He walked to victory. Our Lord didn’t need the approval of mankind; He was quite confident in that the work that He was doing would speak for itself. Do you know for yourself that the works that you do are ordained of God, or is your walk more of a hit or miss situation, more of a miss than a hit with God?

Mark 4:21-23 And he said unto them, Is a candle brought to be put under a bushel, or under a bed? and not to be set on a candlestick? (22) For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad. (23) If any man have ears to hear, let him hear. (KJV)

You know, there is a candle lit in heaven and there is a seat there waiting for you, so that you can see all that is available in the realm of the Spirit that will keep you fired up in the things of our Lord.
