Law Is Spiritual
Romans 7:14-17 For we know that the law
is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. (15) For that which I do I
allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. (16)
If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is
good. (17) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in
me. (KJV)
Whether we like it or not, when we were
born into this realm we started out in the negative column; that being one
born under the law of sin and death. It is up to you the individual to
decide for yourself if you want to continue in this pattern or break free
and walk in a newness of life provided for you by the sacrifice of Jesus
Christ our Lord.
Psalms 51:5-7 Behold, I was shapen in
iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (6) Behold, thou desirest
truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to
know wisdom. (7) Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I
shall be whiter than snow. (KJV)
You know, when one looks at the old law
many just see a bunch of carnal ordinances, things done outwardly that
could only cover up sin but not remove it. Given the fact that there is a
law that is spiritual, that being one of sin and death, then it would be a
given to know the fact that it would take something spiritual as well to
overcome this law that had its grip on mankind. There is a wisdom which is
from above, that gives us the ability to walk in a freedom, a newfound
liberty which is only found in Christ, so that we no longer have to stay
under arrest to this old law of sin and death.
John 3:3-6 Jesus answered and said unto
him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot
see the kingdom of God. (4) Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born
when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be
born? (5) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (6)
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the
Spirit is spirit. (KJV)
Given the fact that our first birth was
marred with a death sentence on us, it would take another birth to undo
this sentence of death and be cleared. Being born of the flesh is the first
requirement, and now it takes a rebirth into a new life in order to escape
this law of sin and death and walk on a new path that was ordained for you
before the foundation of this world. Actually, everyday that you are on this
earth should be a rebirth, walking in a newness of life and not according
to the old nature, that fallen nature that was basically a dead man walking
until he gave ear to a new man talking.
Romans 8:1-4 There is therefore now no
condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the
flesh, but after the Spirit. (2) For the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. (3) For what
the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending
his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in
the flesh: (4) That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us,
who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (KJV)
There is a new Sheriff in town, bringing
a new set of law and order to mankind by keeping our old fallen nature
under arrest and no longer able to wreak havoc anymore. If the old law was
spiritual then it would be safe to say that it would take something, or how
about someone Spiritual as well to show us how to escape this death
sentence and receive our reward of eternal life. What law are you under
today; have you entered into our Lord’s rest and ceased from your own
works, or are you still under arrest of that old outdated law of sin and death
which still has a grip on those that think they will find life there?
Romans 3:24-28 Being justified freely by
his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: (25) Whom God
hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare
his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the
forbearance of God; (26) To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness:
that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. (27)
Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by
the law of faith. (28) Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by
faith without the deeds of the law. (KJV)
The law of sin and death was done away by
the death of Jesus Christ once and for all. There is a new law which brings
new life to all those that choose to walk by faith and not by sight, or any
other outward form of what many call worship. Now that you have been reborn
into a new realm continue in this law of faith grounded and settled, and don’t
let yourself be moved away from your only hope of glory which is Christ in
you.
