Reaching The Lord
Hebrews 10:19-23 Having therefore,
brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, (20) By
a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil,
that is to say, his flesh; (21) And having an high priest over the house of
God; (22) Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed
with pure water. (23) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without
wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (KJV)
The Lord having breathed new life into
His people is now showing us a new and living way to access the throne of
God, by a new and living man who is seated at His right hand. This man Jesus
Christ was crucified and left for dead, but you didn’t think that was going
to stop Him did you? No, actually that was just the beginning; a ministry
that continued after His resurrection and according to the Word of God has
no end. Those of us who were accustomed to our old way of thinking are now
encouraged again to hold fast to a new way, one of faith.
John 20:26-29 And after eight days again
his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors
being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. (27) Then
saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach
hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but
believing. (28) And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
(29) Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast
believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (KJV)
Think of your own life before your
conversion in Christ and how the Lord seemed like a dead issue, something
that wasn’t a reality. Then one day you reached out, and decided this might
be worth a second look, and wow, this God stuff is real after all. Well, we
see our Lord again ministering to the people and showing them that there
would be a new and living way of reaching Him as well; no longer based on their
outward sight but by their inward vision. So many today are like Thomas
was, still looking for an outward confirmation before they will believe our
Lord, or step out in faith. However, if you desire to draw near to God then
you are the one that needs to draw near to Him, and that can only happen in
the realm of the Spirit.
John 4:23-26 But the hour cometh, and now
is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in
truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God is a Spirit:
and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (25) The
woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ:
when he is come, he will tell us all things. (26) Jesus saith unto her, I
that speak unto thee am he. (KJV)
This is what our Lord was referring to
when He walked this earth the first time; and now being resurrected He is
teaching and demonstrating the fact that God is a Spirit and His true
disciples or followers are now going to have to be operating in the Spirit
as well if they desire to reach the Him with their prayers. The Lord
Himself demonstrated a new and living way to walk in the Spirit living a
life without sin, and not be influenced and pulled down by the lusts of the
flesh.
John 14:2-6 In my Father's house are many
mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place
for you. (3) And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again,
and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. (4) And
whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. (5) Thomas saith unto him, Lord,
we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? (6) Jesus
saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me. (KJV)
Hey there’s that guy Thomas again, and
there he is trying to follow our Lord. Thomas had just got the news that
our Lord was leaving but he didn’t know where He was going or how he would
be able to reach Him once He left. Well our Lord was here to point the
people to a new way of life, and that through Him they too could have
access to this life through Him because He would be returning to the Father
and taking a seat next to Him. Where are you looking to find truth; are you
still reaching out to other people or trying to follow others? Are you
aware of the new and living way that has been made available to you so that
you to could go boldly to the throne of God to find your place in the body that
He prepared for you to walk in?
John 16:22-24 And ye now therefore have
sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your
joy no man taketh from you. (23) And in that day ye shall ask me nothing.
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my
name, he will give it you. (24) Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name:
ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. (KJV)
Up to this point the disciples had seen a
lot of things take place, things that were way beyond their comprehension.
Now that the Lord said He was leaving, well, it is like a child finding out
that their dad is leaving, their go to guy is heading out. So instead of
having the Lord right there to ask in time of need they would need to learn
how to access God through His Son themselves. Have you learned to boldly and
confidently access God through His Son? Well, His Son has a name, and if
you desire to reach the Lord and access God you will have to know that name
which is above every name.
