SWAT Team

Romans 7:14-18 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin. (15) For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. (16) If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. (17) Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. (18) For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (KJV)

Have you ever watched a police drama, when a life or death situation is involved they bring in the SWAT team, some backup to get the job done and bring the violators under arrest? Well, basically that is what your Father in heaven has done on our behalf; He saw mankind in a life and death situation, and provided us the backup we needed to be set free and get our lives in order. For those that think their own works or thoughts will get them anywhere with our Lord, verse 18 is specific to point out that our fallen natures are of no benefit to our walk with the Lord anymore. In fact, we are told and encouraged throughout the Bible that we should no longer be leaning to our own understanding, but rather that we turn our lives over to someone who has been in this life and death situation, and is able to train His people on how to overcome their fallen natures.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. (KJV)

Again, if the old law of sin and death is spiritual then it would be fitting to say that it would take something, or someone spiritual to overcome it would it not? The word that the Lord Himself has for you today is Spirit, and will it bring life to your mortal body so that you can do those things that are now pleasing to our Lord, even though man will not think much of your life anymore. God set a Mediator at His right hand so that we could go to Him and get His words of life that would keep us free from this law of sin and death, which is still in play until we are accepted into our eternal inheritance. Like our Lord said, “without Him we can do nothing”; however, the flip side of that is that with Him all things are now possible to them that believe.

1 Corinthians 15:45-47 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. (46) Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. (47) The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. (KJV)

The first man that inhabited this planet was a living soul, who was given simple instructions from our Father, and was able to know the difference between what God was asking of him and what the enemy was enticing him with. Once the first man fell he was basically defenseless and separated from God, and under a law of sin and death. God having known that man would fall provided us a new Adam, a second opportunity for all of us to have fellowship restored with Him in the man Christ Jesus. Not just Jesus folks, but it took a second man from heaven abiding in Him who is the same one that is abiding in you if you truly desire to be delivered as well from this sentence of death that has plagued mankind. Without this second man from heaven we would not have this second opportunity to worship our Lord and be freed from the sin that kept us on the outside and not on the inside.

Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (7) Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this. (KJV)

Even in the book of Isaiah we see the reference to a child born (Jesus), then a second man is mentioned (a son given) and that would be Christ, the Lord from heaven who gave this man Jesus the strength and ability to live a life without sin so that fellowship between God and man could be restored again. Given the fact that it is by this man’s sacrifice that this Spiritual fellowship has been restored would it not be to our advantage that we look more to this man Christ rather than looking to those of this fallen realm?

Romans 1:3-5 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; (4) And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: (5) By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: (KJV)

When God saw mankind in a life and death situation He sent us some backup, a Spiritual SWAT team to take over, and take the enemy down so that mankind would no longer have to be taken down by sin. Have you called in the backup today, the Son of God, the one with power? That second man from heaven is someone you definitely do not want to leave out of your prayers and teachings. Consider this fact if you would, why is the enemy of our Lord referred to as antichrist? How about the fact that Christ is the power and wisdom of God; and that by leaving Him out of the equation it leaves the people weak and powerless.

Luke 1:30-35 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. (31) And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (32) He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: (33) And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. (34) Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? (35) And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. (KJV)

You know, the first man God sent our way was earthy, or born of the flesh, but as we see illustrated again in the above verse, He sent a second man along who is the Lord from heaven. When you go out and about today, are you going armed with backup, or are you going to take on a spiritual situation with only a carnal understanding? Why go in unarmed when you can call in the Spiritual SWAT team?
