A Family Matter
2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore
henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ
after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if
any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away;
behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
When dealing with wills, an inheritance,
you will find it is a family matter; where the will is read and the
inheritors are those that belong or are a part of the family, which they
have to prove at the time of the reading. When you entered the realm of God
you entered an entirely new realm, where basically everything you knew in
the past is just that, passed away. Now all things become new, so that you
can now receive all the spiritual blessings you have been blessed with in
Christ. In order to be a part of a new realm you now realize that you have
been adopted into a new family as well, one that is no longer based
according to the flesh but rather the Spirit.
Mark 3:31-35 There came then his brethren
and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him. (32) And
the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and
thy brethren without seek for thee. (33) And he answered them, saying, Who
is my mother, or my brethren? (34) And he looked round about on them which
sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren! (35) For
whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister,
and mother. (KJV)
Our Lord Himself made an interesting
comment concerning family matters, and was quick to point out who His real
family is. It is of interest to note in verse 31 that His carnal family was
without, or on the outside. He then followed up the statement with the fact
that His real family were those on the inside, being doers of the will of
God and not just hearers only. When people ask you about your family tree,
do you point them back through the Bible to those who were truly family
members that walked with God, or is your first thought still the old carnal
realm?
Matthew 10:34-37 Think not that I am come
to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. (35) For I
am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter
against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. (36)
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. (37) He that loveth
father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son
or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. (KJV)
Many a well intentioned Christian gets
taken down and blindsided because they still hold more to the carnal realm
than to the new found Spiritual one. Many think, and are even taught, that
it is their duty to save those around them, those they have been close to
and likeminded with in the past. The truth be known Church, many times you
will find that just because you made a commitment to our Lord and decided
to walk in a newness of life, that it doesn’t mean everyone else around you
will. The more you hold to the carnal realm, the more you will end up
trying to please those of that realm rather than our Lord and the new
family in Christ He has for you. So take some time and pray about this
matter and ask the Lord if there is someone you hold in higher regard than
Him, someone that just may be doing you more harm than good.
2 Corinthians 6:14-18 Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness
with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? (15) And
what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth
with an infidel? (16) And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols?
for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in
them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my
people. (17) Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith
the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, (18) And
will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the
Lord Almighty. (KJV)
While doing this personal inventory you
need to ask yourself honestly if you are holding onto people more for
carnal reasons than for Spiritual ones. Being the fact that God is no
respecter of persons, they are either with Him or they are against Him.
What basically happens when we hold more to the carnal rather than the Spiritual,
is that we end up throwing the Lord under the bus and putting someone else
in the driver’s seat. The more you can look into the realm of the Spirit,
the less you will know people after the flesh, and the less influenced you
will be by them or their decisions and perceptions of your walk.
Mark 10:29-30 And Jesus answered and
said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or
brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands,
for my sake, and the gospel's, (30) But he shall receive an hundredfold now
in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children,
and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. (KJV)
In order to receive a complete reward you
will have to follow through completely with what our Lord is asking in
order to be a partaker of it. Is there something pricking your heart today,
something that our Lord is asking you to leave behind so that you don’t end
up being left behind? When you entered this new realm you entered a
completely different realm, no longer based on your outward desires and
vision but by an inward one. Sometimes those things or people you are clinging
to may not be healthy to your Spiritual life and will need to be dealt with
in order for you to continue in your walk.
Matthew 10:37-39 He that loveth father or
mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter
more than me is not worthy of me. (38) And he that taketh not his cross,
and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. (39) He that findeth his life
shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it. (KJV)
You know, our Lord had to take up a cross
so that He could receive His reward of inheritance, and so will you no
matter what form it manifests in if you desire to receive your reward.
Micah 7:5-7 Trust ye not in a friend, put
ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth
in thy bosom. (6) For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth
up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a
man's enemies are the men of his own house. (7) Therefore I will look unto
the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. (KJV)
By the way, you’re not the only one who
has had to deal with this; but as you see it is an on going family matter
that really does matter if you are going to inherit eternal life.
