Spirit Is Willing
Matthew 26:40-41 And he cometh unto the
disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye
not watch with me one hour? (41) Watch and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. (KJV)
All this week we have been discussing the
will of God, His desire and purpose for our lives. God’s people have many
requests that they bring to Him, but how many or should I say how few
really respond as diligently to His requests as well? As we see from the
above examples, those that were in the flesh and limited to that realm were
not able, while the one that was in the Spirit and able to operate in that
realm was. So although many have a zeal for God and would like to be a part
of His inheritance, it’s the doing part that alludes them, because they
don’t know how to operate in the realm of the Spirit.
Isaiah 1:19-20 If ye be willing and
obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: (20) But if ye refuse and rebel,
ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken
it. (KJV)
There is more to this walk then just talk;
rather, now there needs to be some obedience involved if one desires to
stay in good standing with our Lord. There are times that things will be
tough to deal with, like our Lord experienced with the cross. Also with the
cross, or whatever cross the Lord is asking you to take up today, it will
take something beyond the flesh to accomplish and do the will of God. What
mankind calls will power, or trying to operate according to your own
strength, will fall short and you will end up asleep again.
Galatians 5:16-18 This I say then, Walk
in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For the
flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and
these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things
that ye would. (18) But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the
law. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘contrary’:
480
antikeimai (an-tik'-i-mahee); from 473 and 2749; to lie opposite,
i.e. be adverse (figuratively, repugnant) to: KJV-- adversary, be contrary,
oppose.
Many people don’t know the difference
between flesh and Spirit, many mistake emotions, and equate them with
something they think is Spiritual. There are many false prophets who play
on these emotions as well, getting the people stirred up more in the realm
of the flesh and ignoring the Spirit. Folks, it’s only those that actually
do the will of our Father that will inherit their eternal reward in heaven,
while many talkers will be proved to be baulkers. It is up to you
personally to take the time to rightly dividing the word of truth, so that
you can stay in the Spirit and not be taken back down by the desires of the
flesh again.
John 4:22-24 Ye worship ye know not what:
we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. (23) But the hour
cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in
spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. (24) God
is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in
truth. (KJV)
Williams New Testament translation
of John 4:22-24
22. You Samaritans do not know what you
are worshiping; we Jews do know what we are worshiping; for salvation comes
from the Jews. 23. But a time is coming
indeed, it is already here
when the real worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and
reality, for the Father is looking for just such worshipers. 24. God is a
spiritual Being, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and
reality."
Do you desire to please a spiritual
being, that being God? Then you will need to do so in His realm, on His
turf. It takes one to know one; so if you are not only willing but also obedient,
then it will take His leading and guidance of His Spirit in order to truly
follow through with your commitment with Him. The Lord is seeking those
that are worshipping Him in Spirit; and those that are in the flesh He just
passes by in His search.
Proverbs 15:3 The eyes of the LORD are in
every place, beholding the evil and the good. (KJV)
Oh and by the way, there is no place or
no one our Lord doesn’t see in His search, but He is quite particular in
who He considers to be one of His people. Are you seeking diligently His
kingdom as well, looking in His heavenly realm so that you can walk in the
Spirit, in the only way He approves?
Psalms 37:4-5 Delight thyself also in the
LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. (5) Commit thy way
unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (KJV)
Do you desire things from God, well keep
in mind that our Lord desires things from you also, a willingness as well
as obedience, following through with your commitment to Him not just in
word but in deed as well. What does our Lord see today when He looks your
way; someone that resembles Him, or someone that is asleep in the realm of
the flesh?
Galatians 1:3-4 Grace be to you and peace
from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, (4) Who gave himself
for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world,
according to the will of God and our Father: (KJV)
The Spirit is willing and ready to lead
us out of this present evil world, while it is the flesh and its fallen
nature that desires the things of this life and is in bondage to them. Are
you on your way out of this world and into a higher realm, or are you on
your way out of the will of God? Your choice.
