Getting Fit
2 Corinthians 6:16-18 And what agreement
hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God;
as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be
their God, and they shall be my people. (17) Wherefore come out from among
them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be
my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (KJV)
For many Christians, while trying to fit
into places or doctrines that are not of God, they need to move on and find
the place the Lord says is a perfect fit for them in His body. If you were
trying to get your body fit and in shape you wouldn’t be hanging around
places that are unhealthy, like a fast food joint or a bakery, but rather
you would go to a gym and start associating with people trying to get fit
as well. Many Christians are in a holding pattern in their walk, because
they are in a place they don’t belong, and rather than offend the people by
just moving on, they in reality are offending God instead.
Mark 10:28-30 Then Peter began to say
unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. (29) And Jesus
answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left
house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children,
or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, (30) But he shall receive an
hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and
mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to
come eternal life. (KJV)
Is there anyone in that category of verse
29 that is fitting for you to walk away from, something that is holding you
back from bringing forth the fruit of the Spirit a hundredfold as well?
Sometimes people hang onto other people thinking that they have to because
they were close to them even before their conversion. But heed the warning Church,
because some of these dead people you keep hanging onto, in the end you will
end up just as dead if it continues. And husband or wife, some of these
deadbeat significant others that have left and you are trying to pray them
back into your life, uh, you would be a lot better off letting them go
rather than hanging onto them.
Romans 1:30-32 Backbiters, haters of God,
despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to
parents, (31) Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural
affection, implacable, unmerciful: (32) Who knowing the judgment of God, that
they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same,
but have pleasure in them that do them. (KJV)
You know, some of these places that claim
to be of God, these so called church organizations are nothing more than a
gossip club, many snobs who think they are better than others. Take note of
verse 32 please, because not only do those that teach and preach false
doctrine receive a death sentence, but so do all those that put their stamp
of approval on them and support them in their folly. So if God has asked
you to walk away from them, then in order to get fit and right in His eyes,
it would do you well to get a move on it.
Proverbs 21:16 The man that wandereth out
of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead. (KJV)
Our God is a God of the living and not
the dead, so if one is trying to be in good standing with God yet remaining
in a dead situation, well you know what the end result will be don’t you?
Proverbs 13:20 He that walketh with wise
men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. (KJV)
In order to get fit and stay fit in the
realm of the physical one will have to walk with other fit people, and walk
right past those places that are unhealthy. Spiritually you will find that the
same premise holds true as well. God bless and stay fit and ready for the Master’s
use.
