Knocking On Heaven’s Door
John 16:13-15 Howbeit when he, the Spirit
of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak
of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will
shew you things to come. (14) He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of
mine, and shall shew it unto you. (15) All things that the Father hath are
mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto
you. (KJV)
Strong’s definition for ‘guide’:
3594
hodegeo (hod-ayg-eh'-o); from 3595; to show the way (literally or
figuratively [teach]): KJV-- guide, lead.
So when you decided to go knocking on Heaven’s
door one day, for myself having been knocked down by my own thoughts and
ways, what did you find when that door opened? Well, what you will find is
an open door policy, one where the Lord would like you to sit with Him on a
daily basis so that you can personally hear for yourself the things of His
realm. His Spirit will lead and guide you on the only path of life, but
only if you are willing to follow and endure where ever it takes you, even
if outwardly it looks like a dead end.
Luke 1:78-79 Through the tender mercy of
our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, (79) To give
light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our
feet into the way of peace. (KJV)
You know, it takes a Spiritual light that
overcomes a spiritual darkness so that you can clearly see and experience
the peace of God that He has for all His people. If you are not
experiencing peace today, or maybe you have allowed a spirit of fear to
sneak by, then you need to re-enter your prayer closet and find out what is
amiss.
James 1:5-7 If any of you lack wisdom,
let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him. (6) But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.
For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and
tossed. (7) For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of
the Lord. (KJV)
When you go a knocking on the Lord’s door
it’s all good on His end. Now the question is ‘what was lacking on your end
that caused the separation between you and God?’ Obviously at some point
the Holy Spirit was no longer a leading and guiding factor in your walk,
but something else got in the way and distracted you. When you ask our
Lord, ask in faith, not only expecting His response, but willing to walk by
the answer that He gives you, again, despite what the outward appearance of
things may try to dictate.
Revelation 3:20-22 Behold, I stand at the
door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come
in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (21) To him that
overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also
overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (22) He that hath
an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. (KJV)
Sometimes we already know the answer, so
trying to ignore that knock on the door is not going to make Him go away
either. After all, you wouldn’t want the author and finisher of your faith
to ignore you, so why would you ignore Him? Many go a knocking on Heaven’s
door, but only few answer the knocking on their own door in return.
