Man or God?
Williams New Testament translation
1Peter 1:18-19
18. because you know that you have not
been ransomed with things that perish as silver or gold, from the futile
way of living taught by your fathers, 19. but with the precious blood of
Christ, like that of a lamb without a blemish or a blot,
1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that
ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your
vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; (19) But with
the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without
spot: (KJV)
For myself as well as many others, I
believe we can all relate to the fact that many things which we were
brought up with in our younger years we based more on traditions and not on
facts. For myself I was brought up in a traditional popular religion, which
although it has many holes in its doctrine it still remains a big hit with
mankind. So when looking back at parents and grandparents they also blindly
followed these traditions and passed them off as facts, which the simple
fact is that those that partake of something other than what our Lord
ordained as truth is a lie.
Colossians 2:6-8 As ye have therefore
received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: (7) Rooted and built up
in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein
with thanksgiving. (8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and
vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world,
and not after Christ. (KJV)
If you notice again, we see that it is
the doctrine of Christ that sets us free; and if I have learned anything
over the years concerning this doctrine, well it is much simpler than many
make it out to be. I have found that it has nothing to do with traditional
carnal washings (water baptisms) being a big hit, which mankind still
thinks is in play. It has nothing to do with going to priests, or nuns, or
praying through mother Mary, which is one of the mother’s of all lies
people. It simply involves a personal relationship between me and God
through His Son Jesus Christ, so that I can access God and hear firsthand
what He desires for me. You need to really stop and take a personal
inventory on how much these traditions and doctrines of man have had a
negative influence in your walk, and start replacing them with simple liberating
truth which is only found in Christ.
2 Thessalonians 3:5-6 And the Lord direct
your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
(6) Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and
not after the tradition which he received of us. (KJV)
If anybody is pointing you to anyone or
anything other than Christ, then get out, move on, dust your feet, hit the
road Jack and don’t be looking back. The doctrine of Christ does not
involve works, especially the works of the old law because Christ put an
end to all that bondage and the complications of them. Paul knew His
calling and the doctrine of Christ, and was able to make the statement that
He was now following the Lord and had established a personal relationship
with Him despite his own traditional background and upbringing which was
based more on the outward law and not on the law of the Spirit of life in
Christ which made him free. Man or God? Find out for yourself how much
liberty there really is in Christ, and no longer be entangled in a yoke of
bondage or tradition.
