The Real Redeemer
1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch
as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and
gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
(19) But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish
and without spot: (KJV)
Strong’s
definition for ‘redeemed’:
3084 lutroo (loo-tro'-o); from 3083; to ransom
(literally or figuratively): KJV-- redeem.
So how will you
know the real deal when it comes along? Well, when you hear all these so
called preachers who make it seem like silver and gold has more value than
the blood of Christ that would be the first red flag. When one truly
realizes all that our Lord has done on our behalf to get them redeemed
spiritually and back in good standing with our Lord, then they will operate
in that Spiritual realm and realize all the treasures that we have access
to.
Acts 8:20-21 But
Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought
that the gift of God may be purchased with money. (21) Thou hast neither
part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of
God. (KJV)
The person Peter
was speaking to in the book of Acts and making reference of was a man named
Simon. Today we have many standing in the pulpits who like Simon try to
make it appear that the more money one gives, the better off they are in
the sight of God. But keep in mind, just because Simon says, does not make
it true. So when you hear all this nonsense about hundredfold return’s,
seed faith, or any other pyramid scheme of man, that would be a good time
to head for the exits.
Romans 3:24 Being
justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ
Jesus: (KJV)
If salvation is
based on anything or anyone else, other than Christ and what He has done on
your behalf, then you are not getting the truth, but rather some watered
down perversion of the gospel.
Hebrews 9:11-12 But
Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and
more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this
building; (12) Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own
blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal
redemption for us. (KJV)
A good and
effective preacher and teacher of the Word will be pointing the people to
what the Lord has done on our behalf, and not what they claim they are
doing on the Lord’s behalf, like He needs our help.
Hebrews 9:13-15 For
if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling
the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: (14) How much more
shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself
without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the
living God? (15) And for this cause he is the mediator of the new
testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions
that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive
the promise of eternal inheritance. (KJV)
So again, in
conclusion, if you are not being pointed to Christ our real redeemer, well
then like verse 13 says, it is just a bunch of bull.
