Lower Your Standards

John 3:30-31 He must increase, but I must decrease. (31) He that cometh from above is above all: he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth: he that cometh from heaven is above all. (KJV)

God has drawn up a plan, a picture perfect outline for us to follow while we are here in this temporal realm. God has placed a picture at His right hand of what He expects of us (Hebrews 11:3), and now all He is asking is that we would step out of the way or crouch down on our knees so that we don’t block the view.

Matthew 18:3-5 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. (4) Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (5) And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. (KJV)

It seems like mankind has decided that he would be dictating the plan of salvation to God, and not the other way around as was originally planned. Ever had a child tell you that you were mistaken, and then proceed to tell you how things should be handled, well at least from their viewpoint? Hey remember when we were teens, you know that time in life when we thought we knew it all and that our parents were just trying to ruin our lives? Where is the humility anymore people; you know, where God is God and we are not? It is time that we start lowering our standard or way of thinking, so that someone so much higher than our fallen way can take over and do a complete work. Until you do lower yourself as a child, how could you expect to have your Father in heaven acknowledge you as one of His?

Psalms 131:1-3 LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me. (2) Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child. (3) Let Israel hope in the LORD from henceforth and for ever. (KJV)

Do you desire to be weaned off the milk of the Word, you know like all those immature childish Christians who fuss and fight over petty worldly things? Then a little humility will go a long way people, toward you achieving that goal so that by lowering yourself as a child you can start over, and then mature in the realm of the Spirit the way that our Lord intended for you to grow.

Isaiah 2:11-12 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. (12) For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: (KJV)

Hey let’s face facts people; you can either allow the humbling process to start now, the easy way, or the Lord will do it for you at a time that you won’t find as appealing. The more you lower yourself and get out of the way, the more the Lord will rise up and take over in your walk.

1 Peter 5:5-7 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. (6) Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: (7) Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (KJV)

Here is a great way to humble yourself, how about, casting and then leaving all those cares that you have at the Lord’s throne, and then proceed forward in your walk. How about, lowering your expectations and carnal standards instead of looking for a carnal answer according to your limited carnal mind; let the Lord take over, and start partaking of all the Spiritual blessings that you have been blessed with in Christ.
