Quit Crying Over Spilled Milk
1 Corinthians 3:1-3 And I, brethren,
could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as
unto babes in Christ. (2) I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for
hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. (3) For
ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and
divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men? (KJV)
All this week we have been on the topic
of us decreasing so that someone else could take over and increase; that of
course would be Christ in you, your only hope of glory. As we see, in the
above illustrations, people that were not willing to step aside and allow
Christ to take over in their lives, but rather were still seeking the
approval of man. It is time to quit crying over spilled milk, you know like
all these different denominations that man has come up with, and refill the
vessel with something new.
1 Corinthians 3:4-7 For while one saith,
I am of Paul; and another, I am of Apollos; are ye not carnal? (5) Who then
is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the
Lord gave to every man? (6) I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave
the increase. (7) So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he
that watereth; but God that giveth the increase. (KJV)
Carnal childish Christians are those that
identity themselves as followers of people rather than a true follower of
Christ. To make matters worse, those people that are in authority or the
leaders, actually try to take credit for what God has done rather than
giving credit where credit truly is due, which then leads to a bunch of
childish bickering and disputes. The reality is that what was intended to
be a church in essence becomes more of a day care center for children in
adult bodies.
1 Corinthians 3:18-21 Let no man deceive
himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him
become a fool, that he may be wise. (19) For the wisdom of this world is
foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own
craftiness. (20) And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that
they are vain. (21) Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are
yours; (KJV)
As we see later in this chapter, the
solution to all this childish nonsense is to eliminate the childish
thinking. In order to be wise in the Lord you will need to empty the glass
so to speak, and then refill it with something new in order to be a new
creation in Christ. But alas, for many they spend more time whining and
fussing over spilled milk rather than cleaning up the mess and refilling
the cup with a new doctrine, one that actually works.
Romans 8:7-8 Because the carnal mind is
enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed
can be. (8) So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (KJV)
It’s that carnal fallen way of thinking
that keeps many entrapped in this carnal, childish, selfish ways of the
world. A child is limited in their thinking and perception of life, and
they need someone to show them what is healthy and what is not or they will
end up self destructing.
Ephesians 4:14-15 That we henceforth be
no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie
in wait to deceive; (15) But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into
him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (KJV)
You know, if you took the time and made
it a priority to hear the Lord’s take and doctrine on how He would have His
Church operate, you wouldn’t see so many people standing around pointing
fingers at each other and crying over spilled stale milk doctrines.
