Rooted And Grounded

Ephesians 3:16-19 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; (17) That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, (18) May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; (19) And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. (KJV)

We talked this week about the root of all evil and what happens to those that partake of these forbidden fruits. We see the flip side of riches in verse 16, now pointing us to where we need to be and stay rooted in so that we can receive strength from that source of life. Just like with a tree, the more rooted you become in this fertile Spiritual grounding, the less likely you will be blown over with man’s winds of doctrines.

Matthew 15:13-14 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. (14) Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch. (KJV)

We all have some old weeds; tares that need to be uprooted and replaced with another affection, that now being for the things above and not just what we see below here. Letting our heavenly Father show you how to uproot anything contrary to sound doctrine will allow you to grow into a deeper relationship with Him, no longer choking the new life that He has begun and desires to see grow to maturity.

Colossians 2:7-8 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving. (8) Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. (KJV)

If it is not the doctrine of Christ then it is not of God, and would be considered something that our Lord would not want to see take root in any of His people. But the warning is clear, and it is up to you what you allow into your spiritual garden, either it will be a root of bitterness, or it will be rooted into the tree of life.

Luke 6:43-45 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (44) For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes. (45) A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh. (KJV)

It all depends upon who and what you become rooted in which will determine the outcome of the tree. Those that are in Christ are not like the many who have corrupted the Word of God by making it appear that God is more concerned with their financial outcome rather than their eternal Spiritual one.

2 Peter 1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. (KJV)

Many are called, but many are not chosen because they have allowed themselves to become rooted into the things of this world rather than the things that pertain to their eternal one. God bless and stay put, rooted and grounded, established in the truth.
