Servant Of The Lord
2 Timothy 2:24-26 And the servant of the
Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, (25)
In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure
will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; (26) And that
they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken
captive by him at his will. (KJV)
How would you describe your walk with the
Lord; do you consider yourself one who is able to reciprocate His love
towards His people, or are you still in bondage to the world and its fallen
ways? It seems like with many, that they are on the take, or playing the
system so to speak, always looking for a handout from the Lord and His
people rather than learning how they too can become a servant of the Lord,
and distribute to the necessity of the saints.
1 John 4:19-20 We love him, because he
first loved us. (20) If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he
is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he
love God whom he hath not seen? (KJV)
It’s not like we are doing God some great
favor because we accepted His plan of salvation, but rather we have agreed
to His terms and conditions of love. For many, it sounds like God has let
them down and that He was the one that sinned and fell away, especially
when listening to so called Christians who rather than learn to walk in the
victory our Lord has provided they act more like the victim rather than the
Victor.
Romans 6:20-22 For when ye were the
servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. (21) What fruit had ye
then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those
things is death. (22) But now being made free from sin, and become servants
to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. (KJV)
You know, we were all in bondage to the
world at one time and whole heartily did whatever it took to try and
fulfill the desires of our flesh, which may have provided a short term pleasure
followed by longer term heartache and misery. The more you realize what the
Lord has done on your behalf and the deliverance He provided, the more you
desire to reciprocate that love in return, not only to Him but to His
people as well.
John 15:10-13 If ye keep my commandments,
ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments,
and abide in his love. (11) These things have I spoken unto you, that my
joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. (12) This is my
commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (13) Greater
love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. (KJV)
Do you truly desire to be joy full,
allowing the love of God to continue to flow through you? There is no
greater way or opportunity to do so than to lay down our own desires so
that we can allow to Lord to reach out through us to distribute the need to
His people. A true servant of the Lord is one who is no longer concerned
with their own things, but those of others.
