The Final Weigh In

Matthew 16:25-26 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. (26) For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? (KJV)

We started this week talking about the biggest loser; you know those that lose the most actually win? At the end of their program they do a weigh in to see who has shed the most excess weight. Spiritually, some day you will do the same thing to see how much of yourself you have eliminated so that a new person could take over. At the end of the program what we see are a lot healthier people who have had a transformation take place by denying themselves and their old desires so that a new person would manifest.

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (KJV)

Ooooppps, it looks like many didn’t follow the prescribed regimen that the Lord had set up for them, and come time for their weigh in, they were not in the shape that our Lord intended for them to be in. All that junk food doctrine of this fallen world, all those shortcuts that they thought they could take just didn’t cut it in the end did it? Had they followed the prescribed Spiritual weight loss program from the Lord then there wouldn’t have been all the question marks at the end, would there?

2 Peter 2:20-21 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. (21) For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (KJV)

For many that begin an exercise program and a new way of life, they are excited in the beginning and are able to see a new life, a new and healthy way for them to live. However, for many of those who begin the workout program only to fall away again, the flesh takes over and actually packs on more than what they started out with in the beginning, making matters worse. The same holds true spiritually; the flesh or our old nature will always be looking for an opportunity to take over again and have its way. It is up to you to follow through with this new exercise program so that you can continue to be a new creation in Christ, and not the old fallen one where there is no peace.

Galatians 5:16-18 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. (18) But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (KJV)

Keeping your body in subjection to the Spirit is what will let the Spirit have its way in you so that you are no longer stuck in the realm of the flesh. We all know that no one intends to get obese and out of shape, because it is not healthy when the flesh is in control. Well spiritually the same holds true, the Spirit is willing, now we need to get the weak part of the equation out of the way which is our flesh.

2 Corinthians 5:16-17 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. (17) Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)

When it comes time for your final weigh in, who will be stepping on the Spiritual scale, your old obese carnal nature, or will a new man step up and receive His reward of inheritance? The biggest loser is actually the biggest winner, because for those that lose their lives here will find the one that the Lord has for them in His eternal realm. God bless, and step up and be that new creation in Christ. Weigh to go Church in Christ.
