What Really Works
Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye
saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9)
Not of works, lest any man should boast. (10) For we are his workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained
that we should walk in them. (KJV)
Just a quick reminder today of what got
you into the Kingdom of God, and allowed you to experience the peace of God
which surpasses our understanding. Yeah it sure wasn’t anything we did was
it? Yet if one looks around, or flips through the religious channels it
appears that Christianity is like a big contest, bigger is better, the more
the merrier. Well keep in mind Church that nothing could be further from
the truth, and actually the opposite is true, the more we can keep out of
the way the more it allows someone else to have His way within us. Please
take note of verse 10 which clearly illustrates what really works, and the
only way that we will find and maintain the peace of God is when we stay
within the parameters of those good works that someone already ordained for
us to walk in.
John 6:26-27 Jesus answered them and
said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the
miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. (27) Labour
not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto
everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath
God the Father sealed. (KJV)
Here is a little quiz you can take today,
which realm truly got the most attention, the carnal one or the Spiritual
one? Which realm did you consider the most important and which one did you
think would provide your need today? If your labor was more toward
something that is perishing, then that would put you in a category that is
perishing as well. However, if your affection was set more on the things
above and not below the standard the Lord would have you operate in, then
that is where you will find true peace, and a perfect love and
understanding of how God truly does work, which then eliminates all fear.
John 6:28-29 Then said they unto him,
What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? (29) Jesus answered
and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he
hath sent. (KJV)
You know what is really going to be a
stinger to many? To find out that God had a perfect plan for their life,
only to find out the cheap imitation they settled for and thought would
work. Then to add insult to injury, many are actually going to have to
stand before God, and when giving an account of their life tell Him He did
not do a complete work, thinking they knew better. I cannot personally
emphasize this point enough people, the only work left to do on our part is
to believe in what our Lord has already done on our behalf, that simple and
that complete.
Philippians 3:14-15 I press toward the
mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. (15) Let us
therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be
otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. (KJV)
For those that desire something that
works, a long lasting eternal relationship with God, will be reminded as
well as remind others of how to mature, to be perfect and pleasing to God.
For many others, they will blindly keep seeking things that don’t really
work; they will be ever learning but never able to come to the knowledge of
the truth that really does work.
