He’s
Still the Son
John 3:16-19 For God so loved
the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his
Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him
might be saved. (18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the
name of the only begotten Son of God. (19) And this is the condemnation,
that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than
light, because their deeds were evil. (KJV)
As we see again God makes
reference to the fact that it is His Son that was sent to this fallen world
to bring His plan of salvation and reconciliation to us and shed a
spiritual light in our heart to enlighten us to the things of God. It’s
only our belief in the complete work God was able to accomplish through His
Son that we can have access to His throne; so that we are no longer stuck
in the fallen realm of the flesh but now are able to be conformed to the
image of His Son, Jesus Christ.
John 20:29-31 Jesus saith
unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed
are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. (30) And many other
signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not
written in this book: (31) But these are written, that ye might believe
that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have
life through his name. (KJV)
Are you one of those that
need an outward sign before you will believe, or are you more apt to walk
by faith, the message delivered by Christ, and the written word of God
which is inspired by Him? Are you one of those that will take the time on a
daily basis to study the word of God, or will you blindly accept the
opinions of others and end up like the parable of the blind leading the
blind into a ditch? Though many still try to claim that Jesus was God, it’s
only what the word of God say’s in the end that is important; and though
many may try to put labels on you also it should only matter that God still
considers you one of His. So when these winds of doctrines try to blow you
around, it’s only the firm foundation of Christ in you that will keep you
from being swayed and wavering.
1 John 5:5-8 Who is he that
overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? (6)
This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water
only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness,
because the Spirit is truth. (7) For there are three that bear record in
heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
(8) And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the
water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. (KJV)
Again that which is born of
flesh is flesh and that which is born of spirit will be a spiritual being.
It is the Spirit of Christ that bears witness with our spirit, to renew and
remind us of who we are in Christ and how to live in accordance with Him.
There are three that bear record of heavenly things as verse 7 points out
and they are all spiritual, yet agree in one. Verse 8 speaks of the witness
in this earthly realm, the flesh and how they work as one.
1 John 5:9-12 If we receive
the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness
of God which he hath testified of his Son. (10) He that believeth on the
Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made
him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. (11)
And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this
life is in his Son. (12) He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath
not the Son of God hath not life. (KJV)
For myself I grew up in this
world receiving the witness of men as being true, even men that claimed to
be godly people, and thus limited myself to the realm of the flesh. But
once I was able to come to an understanding of who the Son of God is and
that this witness was within me once I accepted the Lord into my life, I
was able to believe God and put His plan of salvation to work in my own
life, because I now spend more time listening and studying His account than
that of mankind. You too have access to the Father through His Son Jesus
Christ, and that name which is above all names will give you eternal life
as well because you realize that greater is He that is within you than
those that are within the realm of the world who limit themselves to their
own carnal thinking or witness. If you want an eyewitness account then you
need to go to the source, and the source of our strength is in the Son,
Jesus Christ, who will open the eyes of your understanding so that you too
can walk in the realm of the Spirit.
Luke 24:44-48 And he said
unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with
you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of
Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. (45) Then
opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, (46)
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to
suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: (47) And that repentance
and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations,
beginning at Jerusalem. (48) And ye are witnesses of these things. (KJV)
The account above is in
reference to the Lord’s ministry after His resurrection; talk about someone
that doesn’t quit. He was quite effective after the crucifixion as well, giving
an accurate witness to His name and how to preach effectively through Him.
This same Spirit of Christ is alive and well, willing to bear witness with
your spirit so that you too can come to an understanding of the scriptures and
to give you an eyewitness account of the things of God. Now the question
is, what are you willing to hold to and believe; the accounts of man or the
one true account given to us through His Son?
Luke 22:66-71 And as soon as
it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes
came together, and led him into their council, saying, (67) Art thou the
Christ? tell us. And he said unto them, If I tell you, ye will not believe:
(68) And if I also ask you, ye will not answer me, nor let me go. (69) Hereafter
shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. (70) Then
said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say
that I am. (71) And they said, What need we any further witness? for we
ourselves have heard of his own mouth. (KJV)
Had the people known that He
truly was the Lord of glory, they would not have crucified Him. Today the
same holds true; had the people taken the time to establish a relationship
with the Father through His Son then it would not be a mystery to them and
we wouldn’t have so many still crucifying the doctrine of Christ, putting
Him to an open shame again. The people knew the man Jesus of Nazareth which
many can still identify with; it was the hidden man within, Christ the Son
of God that they were not able to comprehend or come to terms with. Thus,
the reason why today we have so many doctrines and faiths out there; because
mankind still try’s to access the Father by their own thinking and not
through faith in His Son Jesus Christ. As we see in the last two verses,
Son of man and Son of God, so which one is fitting today? Let’s try one new
man and see how that fits.
