Moving On
Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not
laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith
toward God, (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (3) And this will we
do, if God permit. (KJV)
You know, once you got saved the Lord
encourages us to go forward in our walk, not just staying put in the realm
of the flesh. Many organizations which call themselves Christians still
hold to dead works, works of the law, thus keeping the people on hold as
well and never progressing forward or maturing in their walk with the Lord.
As the writer of Hebrews alludes to, a true indicator of this is by their
stubbornness to let go of something the Lord said was nailed to His cross,
that being the ordinances of the old law. So in essence those that claim to
be worshipping our Lord in Spirit and in truth are actually telling Him
that He didn’t do a complete job and are crucifying Him all over again
openly by their dead doctrines.
Hebrews 7:18-19 For there is verily a
disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and
unprofitableness thereof. (19) For the law made nothing perfect, but the
bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God. (KJV)
The law made nothing perfect because it
wasn’t meant to; but rather now is described as weak and unprofitable. So
stop and ask yourself, so what does that make the people who still hold to
it then? The law was in place for a season, it kept an order to things
until a better hope was given to us, and it is by that hope that we draw
near to God. You know, when you started school as a youngster it was expected
that you would move forward in your education and growth, graduating from
one grade to another. Spiritually the same holds true, you are expected to
grow up and mature in the things of our Lord also. How many adults would
you expect to see in a preschool reading preschool books and actually
learning from them? Yet as silly as it sounds that is what the state of
most of these religious organizations are in, easily identified by those
that still hold to old laws as well as some of their own traditions they
think will bring them closer to the Lord. If the law was not able to make
anything as well as anyone perfect or mature in their walk, then why do so
many still hold on to these dead rituals? Remember, our God is a God of the
living not the dead.
Hebrews 9:8-11 The Holy Ghost this
signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest,
while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: (9) Which was a figure for
the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices,
that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the
conscience; (10) Which stood only in meats and drinks, and divers washings,
and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation. (11) But
Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and
more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this
building; (KJV)
You know, if you had a ticket to the
movie theatre but didn’t go inside how would you know what it was about?
You have a free pass to the inward workings of our Lord, a seat in the
heavenly realm, so why are you putzing around on the outside trying to work
your way into a realm our Lord said was there for the taking? Oh but the
pastor swears up and down that even though I got saved now I have to get
dunked in water. Well let him go soak his head, because all these dead end
rituals of man will not get you any closer to God then getting a swirly,
which when I was in high school meant picking someone up by the feet and
putting their head in the toilet. You have a perfect opportunity to come
before the Lord and hear His message of faith; which without this faith
then you have re-entered the realm of the impossible, a realm of the flesh
where it is impossible to please our Lord.
Hebrews 10:1-2 For the law having a
shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can
never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually
make the comers thereunto perfect. (2) For then would they not have ceased to
be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no
more conscience of sins. (KJV)
Those that are in Christ have access to
the perfect gift from above where there is no shadow of doubt in His realm;
those outside this realm are still in darkness, not completely illuminated.
If you desire to grow up and mature in the Lord then you need to move on to
perfection, which will only be found in the grace of God through faith and
not of works. So where are you sitting today; are you seated with Christ in
a heavenly realm hearing His message for you personally, or are seated in
some kindergarten class with your crayons and sippy cup partaking of the
milk?
Hebrews 7:11-12 If therefore perfection
were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the
law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the
order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? (12) For
the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of
the law. (KJV)
There has been a changing of the law; a
law of sin and death has been done away by a law of the Spirit of life in
Christ Jesus. Have you found this new life and grabbed a hold of it for
yourself, or are you still sitting in preschool listening to preschool
messages? You can tell children a lot of things that get their attention by
fabricating the stories, but as one grows and matures in the Lord they are
able to see through the ignorance of their youth. If you are not growing
and maturing in the Lord, moving on to perfection, then you to will be
stuck in a fairy tale land which looks good on the outside but is empty and
vain inwardly.
Galatians 4:3-5 Even so we, when we were
children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: (4) But when the
fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made
under the law, (5) To redeem them that were under the law, that we might
receive the adoption of sons. (KJV)
Thayer’s definition for ‘redeem’:
1805
exagorazo-
1) to redeem
a) by payment of
a price to recover from the power of another, to ransom, to buy off
b)
metaphorically, used of Christ freeing the elect from the dominion of the
Mosaic Law at the price of his vicarious death
If you notice, the adoption is able to
take place once one is no longer under the law, not trying to hold to it
and its elements, which means first principles; something we need to leave
behind and not try to drag around anymore. This is the reason why God sent
His Son, so that you could get to know Him and His inner workings which are
spiritual, and not trying to establish a relationship by the outer, which
is carnal and done away to those in Christ. Do you desire to move on in
your walk with the Lord and mature in Him? Then it can only be accomplished
by faith in the completed work He did on your behalf, and not something we
think we need to do or accomplish. The law could not make anything perfect
because it was never meant to, never will, thus why we see the word
impossible. Which realm are you operating in today? One where with God all
things are possible, or are you outside the realm of faith which it is
impossible to please God in?
