Name Dropping

John 14:13-15 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. (KJV)

When looking at the definition of the word commandments, it refers to an order or a command, as well as an authoritative prescription. Being that the Lord is referred to as a physician as well, would it not be beneficial for us to follow His prescription? There is a saying that he who is his own doctor has a fool for a patient. So will you follow the doctor’s orders, especially those of someone who walked victoriously while on this earth, or will you end up bedridden and weak?

I John 3:22-23 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. (KJV)

The Son God has a name, a full name actually, and though at times some have referred to the name of Christ as just a title, it is actually the name of a real person, have you met him? When I think of my own name, my first name is a common one. When mentioning the rest of my name, it then identifies me with a certain family lineage, making it complete. Dialing our prayers and supplications through Jesus Christ is like making a call; His complete name is the area code that directs us to the throne. Try dialing a number on your phone and leaving part of it out, you won’t get through. Is that the kind of prayer life you desire, I think not. Some claim, as well as countless books and tapes that the power is in the name of Jesus. What does the word say?

1 Corinthians 1:23-24 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness; But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. (KJV)

Romans 1:16-17 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (KJV)

Ever wonder why we are called Christians? Have you ever noticed it is the spirit of antichrist, not anti Jesus, anti God or antifreeze? With all the power and authority we have in that name, why would you leave it out of your prayers?

Acts 4:10-12 Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (KJV)

Have you ever walked along and suddenly stumbled? The first thing you do is look back to see what it is you stumbled on, which obviously you didn’t see the first time. The word of God tells us specifically what many are stumbling on and the stone that the Lord refers to is spiritual in nature, which is why many continue to stumble and fall.

1 Peter 2:4-5 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (KJV)

Father considers this stone precious in His sight, and yet the most important stone for building a strong foundation, many times is discarded and not used.

1 Peter 2:6-8 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed. (KJV)

How strong a case are you building for your salvation? Is there enough evidence to convict you of being a Christian, Christ like, or are you building a case based on circumstantial man made doctrines?

Matthew 10:32-33 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. (KJV)

You wouldn’t want your name left out of the Lamb’s book of life; why would someone leave His name out as well, especially when He is the author and finisher of it.
