The Answer Is Clear

Philippians 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (KJV)

To be careful for nothing, means not being worried or anxious about things, but rather turning it over to Father and letting Him handle it. It begins with prayer, communicating to Father through Jesus Christ. Supplication can be referred to as our supply list, the things we have need of, not only for ourselves but on behalf of others as well. And notice thanksgiving, we thank God that He has heard our requests and that He does truly supply all our need. The peace of God that goes above and beyond our understanding, even when things appear bleak to the outward man, brings a calm and joy to the heart in the midst of storms. The word keep means to guard the heart from the cares and distractions that you just turned over to Father to handle.

I John 3:20-22 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. (KJV)

Condemn means to convict or find fault with. So if you have lost your peace, time for a heart check up; where your treasure is there will the heart be also. And if the heart has drifted off to sea, our confidence will be floundering as well.

James 1:5-8 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. (KJV)

The peace of God is our assurance that we are headed in the right direction. Without His peace it’s time to jump ship and head for solid ground. The further you drift away from the Lord, the harder it is to hear His voice, let alone be confident in what He is asking of you.

Mark 11:15-17 And they come to Jerusalem: and Jesus went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves; And would not suffer that any man should carry any vessel through the temple. And he taught, saying unto them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations the house of prayer? but ye have made it a den of thieves. (KJV)

In order to develop a more personal, intimate relationship with the Lord, seeing how the Bible relates to you will make it more alive and real. When people think of a temple, many picture a building. The Bible says we are the temple of the Lord; God dwells not in temples made with hands. So picture your own life, and what happened when the Lord entered into your heart. Did not He literally overthrow, or turn your thinking upside down, similar to what we see in verse 15? And did He not show us as well how to cast down old thoughts and imaginations? Verse 16 then could refer to the peace of God as well, guarding the heart so that our temple would be a house of prayer, keeping the thief on the outside and not letting him have access again. Yes I know, you can’t turn on your TV, or radio, and not hear the money pitches, seed faith doctrines, hundredfold returns on your financial investments to the Lord, but hey just cause they decided to let the enemy set up shop again doesn’t mean you have to be suckered into it.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are. (KJV)

God expects His house to be in order. He gave us a book of instructions on how to maintain it as well. A strong confident prayer life will make Him feel right at home. Will you leave the light on?
