The Dead Zone
Hebrews 6:1-3 Therefore leaving the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not
laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith
toward God, (2) Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and
of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. (3) And this will we
do, if God permit. (KJV)
Recently a large prominent wireless phone
company has been running adds about the dead zones, places where you cannot
get good reception and unable to hear the message. Spiritually there are
still a lot of dead zones out there, easily identified by their works, dead
works actually, which keep them stuck in a dead zone unable to hear the
message delivered by Christ. How can you tell where this is located and who
it involves? Well quite simply; like the writer of Hebrews explains, those
that are still holding to the old law and its dead works which are no
longer in effect thus keeping people in a dead area.
Galatians 2:16-18 Knowing that a man is
not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ,
even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the
faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the
law shall no flesh be justified. (17) But if, while we seek to be justified
by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the
minister of sin? God forbid. (18) For if I build again the things which I
destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. (KJV)
We see in the above verses that people
who hold more to the ceremonial rituals (water baptism being a dead give
away), they are in a realm where they are back to works basically telling
God His Son didn’t do a good and complete job on their behalf. There is no
justification in the dead works of the old law; no renewing to what should
be a new creation in Christ, but rather a bunch of blind people leading
other blind followers into a ditch. Actually a place you thought would
bring life to your spirit was a place that was leading you astray because
they hold more to outward dead works than to the new work the Lord would
desire to accomplish within you. Do you really want to try to rebuild
something our Lord came to do away with for our benefit, that being the old
law and its dead works, thus instead of being a believer with a new life in
Christ you are actually a transgressor? Ouch!
Galatians 2:19-21 For I through the law
am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. (20) I am crucified with
Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the
life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God,
who loved me, and gave himself for me. (21) I do not frustrate the grace of
God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. (KJV)
Remember what got you into the kingdom of
God in the first place? You know, being saved by grace and not of works?
Well the only way you are going to stay in good standing with God is by
grace through faith, hearing the message now being delivered by Christ so
that you can be renewed and not stuck in a dead zone again.
Hebrews 6:4-6 For it is impossible for
those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and
were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, (5) And have tasted the good word of
God, and the powers of the world to come, (6) If they shall fall away, to
renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son
of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (KJV)
What a shame it really is to see people
who have a zeal for God but not according to His knowledge. They didn’t
take the time to hear His message of liberty, but rather they thought they
needed to do some works to please Him. Are you getting good reception
today, able to hear a message of deliverance and hope from this evil world
or are you in a dead zone thinking you can work your way out? Verse 6
starts out with the word ‘if’ which is actually an added word; so what the
writer is saying is that those that engage in dead works fall away because
they are putting God’s plan of salvation to an open shame by claiming His
Son did not do a good enough job.
Galatians 3:1-4 O foolish Galatians, who
hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes
Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? (2) This
only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law,
or by the hearing of faith? (3) Are ye so foolish? having begun in the
Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? (4) Have ye suffered so many
things in vain? if it be yet in vain. (KJV)
This was one of Paul’s frustrations,
having watched people born again into the realm of the Spirit by their
hearing of faith only to see them revert back to the works of the law and
fall away again. You may think this is something that just happened back in
those times, but it is quite evident with all of the different
denominations we have today that not much has changed. Most people still
think it is more important to get dunked in water than to be immersed in
living Spiritual waters that cleanse the inside and is not concerned with
the outside anymore. You won’t find life in the old law; not because I say
so, but because the Lord said there is no life there. So like with your
wireless phone, in a dead zone (the works of the law) there will be no
reception anymore to hear the word of God which was meant to bring you life
so that you could have it more abundantly.
Galatians 3:10-12 For as many as are of
the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is
every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book
of the law to do them. (11) But that no man is justified by the law in the
sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. (12) And
the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. (KJV)
You know, usually the first thing a
person does when they lose reception on their wireless device is that they
pound on it a few times and try to shake some life into it. Keep in mind
though it’s not the phones fault you don’t get good reception it’s where
you placed yourself; that is why there is no communication anymore. The Bible
is quite specific to point out that whatsoever is not of faith is sin, period!
As we see in verse 12 above, the law and its works are not of faith either,
thus putting you in a place of sin, separated from the life of God in
Christ.
2 Corinthians 6:17-18 Wherefore come out
from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the
unclean thing; and I will receive you, (18) And will be a Father unto you,
and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. (KJV)
Get out of that dead zone! Get away from
all those deadbeats you have been hanging around who keep telling you that
the works of the old law are still in play and are so important in order to
be justified by God. Get back on top, rise up again to the heavenly realm
and be seated with Christ so that you can hear His message first hand and
partake of the new life He intended for you to operate in. God bless and
keep your ears open and your Spiritual battery recharged.
