The Lasting Supper

Revelation 3:20-21 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne. (KJV)

Learning to communicate with our Father through His Son Jesus Christ is very important. Not only taking the time to hear, but being able to deliver His message as well, whether it be by word or example. How many times does the Lord come knocking on your door? How many times does opportunity knock in the form of a brother or sister in the Lord, sometimes those we are not familiar with?

Matthew 25:34-35 Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (KJV)

If you came across a starving child, would it not be your first instinct to take that child in and give them what is needed. How prepared are you to deal with those that are spiritually starving and in a need of a meal?

Matthew 25:40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. (KJV)

Did you realize by being prepared and able to give the spiritual food that is lacking is not only doing it unto them, but our Lord as well? So being that God gave us His best, are we doing the same in return?

James 2:15-16 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? (KJV)

Isn’t that why it’s called the body of Christ, being able to give the food that will feed and nourish the spirit man. Didn’t the Lord instruct His people to feed His flock? You can give them a wafer or some wine which might make the flesh giddy, but does absolutely nothing for the spirit man, so what is that going to profit?

John 6:48-50 I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die. (KJV)

The communion that the Christian should be partaking of is of a spiritual nature, an ongoing never ending process nourished up in words of faith and good doctrine. You can give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, or you can teach him to fish and he will eat forever. Are you receiving your heavenly instructions first hand, and able to give an accurate account of God’s plan of salvation to any that would ask? Or are you pointing them toward the dead sea?

2Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. (KJV)
