The Lost Supper
Communion=
partnership, joint participation, fellowship, as well as communicate, and
communication.
We have all seen
the picture of what is called the last supper, the disciples communing with
the Lord shortly before His betrayal and crucifixion. Now that He died, is
risen, and is seated at the right hand of the Father, did you realize that
you too can sit with Him, right now? That it doesn’t have to be the last,
or lost supper, but hopefully symbolic of many more to come?
1 John 1:3-4 That
which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have
fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with
his Son Jesus Christ. And these things write we unto you, that your joy may
be full. (KJV)
A true eternal
communion or fellowship exists in the realm of the spirit, bread and wine,
grape juice and wafers may fill the belly, but the bread of life will fill
your joy.
2 Corinthians
5:16-17 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we
have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are
passed away; behold, all things are become new. (KJV)
In order to be a
new creature you will need a new diet plan to continue in the new. By
attempting to continue in the old ways you may end up passing away, instead
of the old things.
Galatians 3:2-4
This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the
law, or by the hearing of faith? Are ye so foolish? having begun in the
Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? Have ye suffered so many
things in vain? if it be yet in vain. (KJV)
Simple truth begins
and ends in the spirit and your ability to hear the message delivered by
Christ. If you think eating a wafer is going to make you more spiritual,
well that’s just plain crummy doctrine.
Philippians 1:5-6
For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now; Being
confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you
will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: (KJV)
It’s your
fellowship in the gospel, His words being the bread of life, they are
spirit and they are what will bring life and confidence to the
believer. The Lord has begun an
eternal work within you, will you let Christ be formed in you, or are you
forming your own opinions and doctrines?
Philemon 1:6 That
the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of
every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus. (KJV)
There is a well of
life within you that is ready to be tapped into and drawn from for those
that wish to partake of the Lord and be a joint participant of His table.
So stop for a moment and ponder yourself sitting with the Lord as well,
partaking of the bread of life, and the new wine which is able to fill the
void within man with the joy of the Lord, and the confidence and boldness
to continue on His path of life.
Matthew 4:3-4 And
when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command
that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written,
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of
the mouth of God. (KJV)
Next time the devil
tries to get you to revert back to the realm of the flesh as he tried with
our Lord and Saviour remember the same thing the Lord did, it is not a
piece of bread that is the answer but rather the word of God which will
preserve our spiritual life.
Ephesians 2:6 And
hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in
Christ Jesus: (KJV)
So can you form a
picture for yourself; being able to sit with the Lord and have communion
with Him on a daily basis? Isn’t it a lot easier to hear someone when you
are in the same room? So stay seated and you won’t lose sight of the true
bread Father desires to share with you. The table is set, the directions
are simple, so don’t get lost on the way.
Psalms 23:5-6 Thou
preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest
my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the
LORD for ever. (KJV)
